Waimate Centennial School

We are getting into the winter term - remember the Library is lovely and warm and a great place to come at lunchtimes. We have great books to browse through, games to play and paper to draw on.

Our new Library system is working really well and we are now having very few overdue books - congratuatons!

This week we have another awesome selection of new books in the Library.

There are three new Junior Picture books, one of which is my favourite - 'A Chick Called Saturday' about a chick who wanted more than his life was offering.

We also have another Graphic Novel -'The Race to the South Pole'. This will interest the boys in particular.

In our Non Fiction selection we have two more 'horrible' books - 'Horrible Histories-York' and 'Horrible Science'. The middle school children enjoy these books.

Come and have a look at our new books, remember the notice on the Library door gives a run down of these new books.

Waimate Centennial School Library

This week we have another selection of new books in the Library. We really do have awesome books in our Library.
Most of the new books this week are about animals. There are two lovely books with a New Zealand flavour - one called 'The Kea' and the other 'Bats'. They both have beautiful photographs.
We also have two new Graphic Novels. These are proving very popular. We have another 'Jimmy Sniffles' adventure.
My favourite this week is the book about New Zealand bats. It was a very interesting read. Come and see it for yourself.

Just a word about the new system that is up and running in the Library.
We are really trying to cut down on our overdue and lost library books. The new system will not allow a child to get another book out if they have one that is overdue. Children will bring a slip home if they have an overdue book asking that either the book is found and returned or $5.00 is paid towards replacing that book.
Today we only have 6 overdue books across the whole school which is fantastic. Thank you for your help.

Waimate Centennial School Library

Welcome to Week 4.

This week we have another great selection of new books going into the Library.

Do have a look at them if you are wanting something to read for your Reading Crusade.

We have two awesome books in the Non-Fiction area. Both are New Zealand ones.

The first is a beautifully illustrated book about the history of farming in New Zealand.

The second one is quite topical. It's called 'Weather Watch New Zealand'. Read it and find out why we have the weather we do! There are also activities that can be completed - maybe during a wet weekend!

Keep up the reading - I have seen some reading diaries - and many children have read many more than the 6 books that they need too.

Remember the Library is open every lunchtime.

This week we have a selection of books that hopefully will appeal to a wide range of readers. Come and check them out.

We have a non-fiction book about the fun facts behind 'space'. There are fun facts, photos, illustrations and much more.

Our other non-fiction book is another in the 'Horrible Science' series. This one is 'Measley Medicine' - science with the squishy bits left in!

Our two senior fiction books this week are for the girls - another 'Royal Ballet School Diary' book and another book in the series about Stella Star.

We have another Zac Power book in the junior fiction area together with a 'Lego Knight's Kingdom' book.

In the senior picture books we have one about the Mutant Ninja Turtles and one called 'Mechanical Harry', for those of you who are into things mechanical.

We have a new 'I Spy' book in the picture books as well as one called 'Soccar Game'.

As I said something for everyone!

Remember the Reading Crusade - I know there are many children who are busy reading any moment they get. Keep it up! Have a look at the new selection of New Zealand books that I have put out - you can take these out.
